Southpark: Season 13 Part 2 Has Started

Just as my previous blog post, these news are kind of late. This time it is because there were ten unread southparkstudios entries in my feedreader and I have the bad habit to mainly ignore feeds which have that many unread articles (except when I am really bored, I start to read these).

So anyway, the only really interesting news are that the second part of the 13th season has just started and one episode is online. It has a few funny moments and the 720p quality is just awesome as always, so you might want to watch it.

Fred the Monkey is online for six years

Actually it is a bit late that I post this, because you could find this information on JKR’s blog for ten days. Anyway, he made a bunch of updates every few days in this post featuring some new content and I guess he will edit it further. By now it contains a whole new cartoon dedicated to one of his blog comment writers, so you might want to see it (but keep in mind that he made this in only three days, don’t expect too much :p).

FtM cartoons are mainly just awesome, so I hope JKR will continue making them for a long time :)

If you can invest a few minutes of your life in comedy…

…then you should watch JKR’s most recent masterpiece, the Mailbag number 50! Enough reason to briefly explain what these Mailbags are again, just in case you don’t know it. Basically everyone can send in e-mails to the fredthemonkey.com character Sceb. He might then answer (or more likely just talk about any random stuff hardly related to those mails) in a single Mailbag episode. Sometimes there are easter-eggs at the end of the episodes, just like in this case.

So make sure that you watch out for a little square at the bottom right corner after Sceb seems to be finished and click it as soon as you see it.

Ready? There you go!

Cinemassacre’s Monster Madness 2k9 and James’ favorite Twilight Zone episodes

I have already done a quick reference to the Monster Madness series at Cinemassacre with my previous post on that topic. Yesterday James announced that this year’s edition will be about horror movies. If you know what I am talking about, you probably know as well that James already made one about horror, it was actually the first one (which I highly recommend to watch by the way). But don’t worry, this will not be some lame recycling as Rolfe will talk about different movies. Remember that there are a whole lot of those in the horror genre. However, if you have no idea what the Monster Madness could be, James publishes a short (by that I mean a few minutes) video every day in the month of October about whatever the topic is, in this case horror movies (again).

Speaking of Horror, or more specifically of things to think about, there’s a new video up today where James reveals his top ten Twilight Zone episodes. I did not really know what it is before I watched the video, yet it seemed somewhat familiar and my first thought was Futurama. Why? Because they have a show in that show called The Scary Door which is somewhat similar and for sure inspired by it, but set in the future. I also noticed that the Simpsons re-told some of the stories in their Treehouse Of Horror episodes. James is nice enough not to spoil the endings of the episodes (except for the one with the window maybe), so go watch it! I was impressed by it and will watch some original videos when I have time.

Cinemassacre: Ghostbusters Xbox360 Review and New AVGN Game! (Update: AVGN hat)

avgn-KO-fan-game

James did his first gaming review without the Angry Video Game Nerd leading it, which features a great intro and feels – except for the fact that it’s about a game – like one of his movie reviews. Speaking of which, he also did one of those, but I don’t know anything about District 9, so I didn’t watch it (I hate spoilers, you know…). Mike Matei notified us just about a new boxing AVGN fangame by Devin Cook, which is actually downloadable as ATARI-Rom image. As I don’t have the real thing here (but I know it from the Games Convention ‘08), I use Stella as suggested by the article. This opensource emulator can also be compiled under Linux, so when you are on arch

yaourt -S stella

will do the job AURtomagically. The game is fun to play and has some decent retro graphics of course. If you can’t figure the controls out, take a look at the well written manual (seriously, looks like it is a real game).

Update: Not worth a new post, but ScrewAttack made a nice promotion video for the new AVGN hat!

Southpark: Unaired Pilot

Since six days ago, you can read the following news on southparkstudios:

Gallons of coffee, very little sleep, a twisted sense of humor and too many paper cuts to count… three months later, South Park was born. In August of 1997 Comedy Central premiered „Cartman Gets an Anal Probe,“ the crudely animated episode that changed television forever. For the next 30 days, SPS.com will feature the version of that episode you’ve never seen. This is the only all-construction-paper episode of the series and the only one hand-animated by Trey and Matt. The pilot is two minutes longer than „Cartman Gets An Anal Probe“ and features almost four minutes of never-before-seen footage. Watch it while you can, the un-aired Pilot is available exclusively at SouthParkStudios.com and only for 30 days.

Watch it now!

I’ve just watched both the pilot without and with crew commentary and I think it is really interesting. If you are located in Germany, you need to use a workaround in order to get it working, as I couldn’t find it on southpark.de.

But make sure to watch it before the 30 days run out (7th September) or it will be offline.

fredthemonkey: Mailbag 49!

It is finally done! Also JKR seems to write a newsletter when episode 50 of the mailbags is finished, so if you are interested you better sign up by sending a comment about wanting to receive the newsletter;

And speaking of motivation, I’m now working on the return of the good ol’ FredtheMonkey.com Newsletter. Remember the newsletter? Of course you don’t, it hasn’t been released in years. But now is the time for it to triumphantly return! At least, sometime soon. Perhaps to announce the arrival of a very important event? Hmmm…

Back to #49, there’s an easter-egg. Just click Sceb after he seems to be done. It works twice :)

FtM: Star Trek review complete

Movie Review: Star Trek (click me!)

Previously, JKR released the first part of this episode, but now it is done. Please watch it before you read my comment about it (select it with your mouse).

I don't know anything about Star Trek, except for what James Rolfe had to say about it. Still I recognized that there was a lot unrelated material from Starwars in the review and it was great! How I only wish JKR would do updates more frequently...(he claims to do that now, but we'll see).

Oh and I have a tab with the video open for a while now... there are really no credits at the end :D

PS: he’s also working on an online store for fredthemonkey.com

Lost in Translation

ADI64 has sent me a link to this page yesterday. It allows you to batch translate text through many languages and back to English with Yahoo’s Babelfish engine. As you may guess, the results are rarely the same as the beginning input. Here’s an example:

Original English Text:
lost in translation

Translated to Japanese:
変換で失われる

Translated back to English:
It is lost with conversion

Translated to Chinese:
它丢失与转换

Translated back to English:
It loses and converts

Translated to French:
Il détruit et convertit

Translated back to English:
It destroys and converts

Translated to German:
Es zerstört und konvertiert

Translated back to English:
It destroys and converts

Translated to Italian:
Distrugge e converte

Translated back to English:
It destroys and it converts

Translated to Portuguese:
Destrói e converte

Translated back to English:
It destroys and it converts

Translated to Spanish:
Destruye y convierte

Translated back to English:
It destroys and it turns

What the hell? :D

4 Links: college humor, screwattack and twice cinemassacre

Here’s a collection of interesting and/or funny videos I found recently. As I do not like spoilers as well as short and twitter-like posts which cause readership--; I decided to throw them together in one longer post. Sorted by the date I found them.

1. All cinemassacre’s servers belong to Rolfe’s base

2. College Humor: Minesweeper – The Movie (found here)

3. ScrewAttack at Video Games Live part one

4. Newest AVGN
